Transfer of international domains from another registrar to HOSTPROCOM

Do you need to transfer an international domain from another registrar? At HostPro, we offer convenient and secure domain transfers. In this article, you will learn how to transfer a domain, what you need to do so, and what benefits you will get by choosing our service.

Preparing for the transfer

Before you start the transfer procedure for an international domain (.org, .com, .net, .xyz, etc.), make sure that the following conditions are met:

  • At least 60 days have passed since the last domain renewal.
  • At least 60 days have passed since the domain was registered or the last registrar change.
  • There are at least 15 days left before the domain expires.
  • The domain must not be expired, i.e., it must not have the status expired / autoRenewPeriod / RedemptionPeriod.

  • The domain must be unlocked by the current registrar. If clientTransferProhibited(Locked) is specified, the transfer is prohibited.

  • Make sure that you still own the email address specified in the Registrant contact field and that you still have access to this email address. If this email address does not work or is no longer yours, change it to a current one, otherwise you will not be able to confirm the transfer.

All information about the domain can be viewed using the WHOIS service.

Domain transfer

If all of the above conditions are met, you can proceed with the domain transfer. The first step is to submit a request to your current registrar and make sure they have no objections. You may be required to provide a written statement with a copy of your passport or ID card, or the original official statement from the company that owns the domain name.

You may also need our company’s details* to complete the transfer:

  • our legal name: HOSTPRO LAB LLC.
  • registrar ID: UA.HOSTPRO.

*Please note that our data may vary in different domain zones. It is best to clarify this in advance with our Sales Department staff .

Once you have agreed on all the details with your current registrar, you can place a transfer order on our website. Don’t forget to enter the authorization code (AUTHCODE) provided by your current registrar — this is a sequence of 8–20 characters that is difficult for an outsider to guess, for example, “f4% 89 [1tGbf.” Also, depending on the domain zone and registrars, you may be asked to confirm the transfer via the email address specified in WHOIS, which we mentioned above.

When you submit a transfer request, the system will automatically generate an invoice for the domain registration renewal. The transfer will not take place until you pay this invoice. Next, you need to confirm the transaction via email, to which a corresponding letter will be sent. Here is an example of such a message from the registrar.

After successful confirmation, the domain will be transferred to the new registrar (in our case, HostPro) within 7-14 days. A notification of the completion of the transfer will also be sent to the contact email address.

How to hide confidential information about the domain owner?

Remember that after registering a domain, your confidential information is added to the WHOIS database. This means that cybercriminals can use it. To replace your personal information with the registrar’s data in the WHOIS system, order the domain ID protection service.
